I first met Ella Rose when she came to visit me in my Hilliard studio for hew newborn photography session. And in the blink of an eye she is turning one! We had so much fun celebrating Ella Rose’s 1st birthday last weekend. I still can’t believe it’s already been a year since she was in for her newborn session! It has flown by (just ask her parents – there have been some sleep regressions going on and mom & dad say that part of it seems like a long year!).
While we were transitioning between different outfits and sets, Dad joked about Ella Rose’s love for shredded cheese and that we might need to have some on standby in case she decided she didn’t want to participate in her photo shoot anymore. Well, that time came sooner than we thought – and boom! Happy baby once she had her shredded cheese! I told mom and dad that if we had thought about it, we should have done a huge cheese smash instead of cake smash! (I will have to keep that in mind for future one year sessions).
Check out a few of our favorites from this wonderful one year session! And make sure to scroll down to see where the cheese comes into play!
I was so excited that mom brought a few holiday items to incorporate into the session … and very excited that Ella Rose got to “meet Santa” for the first time – in pictures at least!
Simple. Just baby. I just love the innocence of these!
Ms. Ella Rose was very excited to play with the balloons! She wasn’t too happy when one popped, but we moved past that pretty quickly.
What I wouldn’t give to go back and get pictures of my baby girl all wrapped up in tulle. I LOVE this setup for my girl one year sessions!
and here comes the ….. CHEESE!
With what we thought would just entertain her while we tied her hat on her head took on a life of its own! I think a HUGE pile of cheese and a happy baby would be such an amazing session – who’s up for it?
CHEESE!
Ha ha ha — she could see the bowl of cheese just past me and had a hard time focusing on what was coming next … CAKE!
The first 2 minutes of the cake was fun, but Ella Rose wasn’t too fond of the stickiness on her fingers.
But those baby toes! <3 Be still my heart!
The last picture here is when she got the chills from the sugar. She would shiver and close her eyes. We were laughing so hard! I absolutely love watching babies react to the sweetness for the first time!
Thank you to Ella Rose’s parents for trusting me with this memory for them! I hope you have a wonderful celebration of her first birthday (and first Christmas that she’ll remember!).
